Thes sid class was initially written to support the SID Display Week Symposium by providing a common LaTeX class for technical paper submissions. It is based on the LaTeX standard article class and other LaTeX packages, and matches the format of the example Microsoft Word document for Symposium authors as provided by SID. The Display Week Symposium formatting is accessed via the displayweek option.

This version of the sid class also supports the International Display Workshops paper format through the idw option and the Vehicle Displays and Interfaces Symposium through the vdi option.

The sid class uses the standard literate programming method. To recreate sid.cls, run XeLaTex on sid.ins. To create a PDF of the documentation (sid.pdf) run XeLaTex on sid.dtx. N.B.: Using XeLaTeX is REQUIRED because of the inclusion of the package fontspec.

N.B. Due to an incredably short-sighted decision by Google, .ins files are banned from being attached to gmail in zip files. In the current sid.zip, if the file is named sid.ins.1 ; simply rename to sid.ins .

Also incuded in this directory is sid-example-latex.tex, and associated image (.png) and bibliogaphy (.bib) files which recreates the output when running Microsoft Word on the example file SID-example-word.docx. Similarly, for IDW papers idw-example-latex.tex and associated files are included, and for VDI papers vdi-example-latex.tex is also included. N.B.: XeLaTex+MakeIndex+Bibliography BibTeX is required to run this file.
